Lacquer restoration is a meticulous process that involves re-lacquering items to restore their original beauty and durability. The technique of re-lacquering is often employed to revive worn-out lacquerware, such as furniture, decorative objects, or even musical instruments.
The process begins with carefully removing the old, damaged lacquer layers from the item's surface. This step is crucial as it allows for a fresh start and ensures that the new lacquer adheres properly. Skilled artisans then apply multiple layers of high-quality lacquer, allowing each coat to dry thoroughly before adding the next. This meticulous layering process helps to build up a smooth, glossy finish that enhances the item's aesthetic appeal.
Veneering is a fascinating technique that involves applying a thin layer of wood, known as veneer, to the surface of furniture or other wooden objects. One particular area where veneering has been widely used is in the restoration of classic car woodtrim.
Classic car woodtrim veneering involves carefully removing the existing damaged or worn-out veneer and replacing it with new, high-quality veneer. This process not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the car's interior but also helps to preserve its original charm and value.
Classic car woodtrim customisation involves the intricate art of veneer customisation, which encompasses various techniques such as engraving, marquetry, and inlays. Engraving is a process of etching designs or patterns onto the wood surface, adding a touch of elegance and personalization to the car's interior. It allows for intricate detailing and can highlight specific features of the wood grain.
Marquetry, on the other hand, involves the skillful application of different wood veneers to create decorative patterns or pictures. This technique allows for the creation of stunning visual effects, as different wood species and grain patterns can be combined to form intricate designs. Marquetry can be used to depict anything from simple geometric shapes to elaborate scenes, adding a unique and artistic touch to the classic car's woodtrim.
Inlays are another technique used in veneer customisation, where small pieces of contrasting wood or other materials are embedded into the wood surface. This method allows for the creation of eye-catching designs, as the contrasting colors and textures of the inlays create a visually appealing effect. Inlays can be used to highlight specific areas of the woodtrim, such as the car's logo or other significant elements, enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal of the classic car's interior.

We are always looking at ways we can offer our clients more. Our newest Innovation is the ability to add a industrial strength protection chemical to woodtrim to help protect against a variety of woodworm, Fungi, Algae, Lichens and wet/dry rott. All of these things are common in classic car wood trim especially convertibles as they are more susceptible to the elements, we even see woodworm on a variety of car body types and they mainly attack the door cappings as it is the easiest accessed area when windows are left down or there isn't a tight seal.
